Zoo Ridge is one of the least known but most spectacular areas for rock formations in the Southern Cederberg. It is on privately owned land and is called Zoo Ridge as ones imagination is the only limitation to the number of animals one can see in the rock formations. The rock formations cover a huge area and would take many days to explore but one has to start somewhere!
Andy invited club members to join him on a 12 day exploration of the Richtersveld Conservancy and he got four takers – Rob Hall, Ivan Napoleon, Ronel and Trevor Huber and Ken and Shona Sturgeon.

The drive to Montagu is normally a scenic relaxing drive but the number of roadworks after Worcester along with the volume of traffic bypassing the N2 due to protesting made the drive somewhat less enjoyable for all. (Why is it that the authorities can’t just do one section of road at a time???) And don’t
get me started on the road works in the kloof that are taking years to complete along with the massively over engineered bridge in Ashton that is turning into their version of the Cape Town flyovers!

A pleasant quiet weekend at Baliesgat campsite.
The Middelberg weekend started with 11 vehicles arriving during the day and afternoon on the Friday. The campsite is about 2 km from the main farm house and can only be accessed with a 4×4. The campsite is neatly laid out and has a sheltered braai area under a grove of Popular trees and was the focus for a very pleasant and social evening around the fire.

The year started off with a fantastic trip to Agter Witzenberg, many members took advantage of this first outing and had a beautiful sunny weekend away with some swimming, hiking and gentle 4 x4ing. Looking at the photos some great fires were built and enjoyed!!!

8 vehicles met outside Ceres for breakfast and a chit chat before hitting the road into the Tankwa Karoo. The notorious R355 was in good condition but still cost one puncture for one member. Arriving at the turn off down to the river meant going into low range and an interesting but not technical drive down to the water’s edge.
Wonderful weekend out in Aurora amongst the flowers on a beautiful farm off the beaten track, just sea views, mountain backdrops and tranquility.
The exploring Namaqualand long weekend outing spent in good company with wild and spectacular scenery. Think the photos say it all!
