It was a very early Friday morning when Andy and I left Cape Town en route to Steinkopf to meet up with Ken & Shona Sturgeon, Rob Hall, Jurie Schuurman & Sanet, John and James Little and Susan Skog (travelling in John Little’s vehicle) for our Northern Cape / Richtersveld adventure. It was lovely to see everyone!Continue reading “Northern Cape and Richtersveld 28 August to 8 September 2020”
Andy and I left Cape Town en route to the meeting spot with sunny skies and a slight berg wind blowing, indicating cooler weather to make landfall in Cape Town during the coming week. However, our focus was not on the weather but on the day’s outing and we were excited to be out and about once more with other club members exploring some of the Caledon back roads.Continue reading “Caledon Back Roads day trip 2 August 2020”
Andy and I left home in Cape Town in light rain en route to meet the other day-trippers and I was wondering whether this was such a good idea after all! However, my vision of staying in a warm bed was soon surpassed by the excitement of getting out and getting our wheels dirty (literally!) after months spent in lockdown!Continue reading “Saggy Stone day outing 5 July 2020”
Another wonderful weekend at this rustic but stunning site. We decided very late to join the trip to Bakenskloof and in retrospect it was a good decision.Continue reading “Bakenskloof 20-22 March 2020”
A beautiful summer’s day in Grabouw saw 10 vehicles and their eager occupants meeting at the Grabouw Country Club for a day of fun on the 4×4 trail!
Once the admin issues had been taken care of and the tyres deflated, we all enthusiastically set off, with Andy leading the troupe, into the beautiful countryside with the dam setting the backdrop to our day’s adventure.Continue reading “Grabouw 4×4 day outing 1 March 2020”
We had a pleasant drive to Piketberg area, before you reach a sandy road towards your campsite. Gilbert had already taken over the campsite and pool!
Campsites are spread among the trees but if sand is not your thing, there is only grass around the pool area. Everyone spent more time in the pool than anywhere else as temperatures soured to the mid-40s on Saturday.Continue reading “Klein Tafelberg 14-16 February 2020”
After a beautiful journey, we all arrived in Ceres and proceeded to travel through Prince Alfred Hamlet into the Witzenberg area – a community on its own with amazing views, rocky mountains, luscious greenery and dams with water 🙂
On arrival at the campsite, members proceeded to set up camp, with views overlooking the dam. Friday night was spent catching up with fellow club members on Christmas holiday trips and new adventures.Continue reading “Agter Witzenberg 31 January – 2 February 2020”
