All day
May 19, 2019 – July 31, 2019
Organizers: Viv & Mary le Sueur
A long time before our planned trip next year, but there is substantial planning needed to see the gorillas. We already have 5 of the maximum 6 couples who have put their names down for the Gorilla visit. More could be accommodated for other sections of the journey.
The attached trip route takes us to Kapisha Hot Springs in Zambia, where we turn directly North and up the East coast of Lake Tanganyika.
Then skirting around Burundi and up into Uganda. We have now decided that we should extend our time there, as it is our primary destination. Therefore we have included the Northern area of Murchison falls to at least see the White Nile!
Then down the East coast of Lake Victoria, in and out of the Masai Mara before a ride up the Grumeti in Serengeti. A Ngorongoro Crater visit cannot be missed, and then via Moshi near Kilimanjaro down to the Dar es Salaam area.
The last leg is taking us through Selous to the full length of the Moz coast, which brings us out in KZN.
Trip distance from Cape Town is about 15,000km
There are opportunities to join/depart the group at various stages, and after Kapisha only the gorillas and the Crater would require pre-booking.
This gives us flexibility right through Moz to stay or move on as we wish.
We have now made contact with about 6 venues in Uganda to firm up a location for the proposed 4 nights in gorilla country, and will keep you informed.
It looks as if the trip could be full before being advertised! The group size is limited to 12 for the gorillas, but is more flexible thereafter. We propose to have a group get-together by July latest.
