Organizer: Andy McMahon

The Baden Club is a privately owned resort near Montagu with a hot spring and camping. This will primarily be a camping and chillout weekend that allows us to enjoy the warm swimming pool but there is the option of exploring the very scenic kloof by foot (if the water level allows) or to walk / drive around to a view point (last bit requires 4x4) overlooking the kloof if the water is high. There is also a sit in foofie slide across a dam (+-100m) that will put a smile on your face!

The campsite has two areas – one around the cold water pool and another around the warm water / spring fed pool. We will be camping around the warm water pool. Unusual for most hot spring camps, the winter months are not that busy and the campsite is unlikely to have many other people there.

For more information, please go to http://www.badenklub.co.za/index.html. We camped there last year and found it a very pleasant venue and really enjoyed the kloof walk. The pool is a mild 28 degrees but there are two private baths that feed the pool that are at 37 degrees to warm up in.

Each campsite costs R285 per night with a maximum of 4 people per sight. Each site has electricity. They do allow 2 vehicles per site in the low season (winter) so if anyone wants to share a campsite to cut costs, you are welcome to do so. Caravans and trailers welcome. There is also the option of very basic accommodation for those interested.

The plan at this point is to get an idea of the number of members interested so we can decide what part of the campsite to book. If you are interested, please let me know by no later than Sunday the 10th of June so we can start booking on the Monday.

They do not allow group bookings so each member will need to book their own spot directly with Baden. Once we have an idea on numbers, I’ll mail everyone with the campsite numbers we want to go for.
