Klein Tafelberg

14 – 16 February 2020

We had a pleasant drive to Piketberg area, before you reach a sandy road towards your campsite. Gilbert had already taken over the campsite and pool!

Campsites are spread among the trees but if sand is not your thing, there is only grass around the pool area. Everyone spent more time in the pool than anywhere else as temperatures soured to the mid-40s on Saturday.

A chilled braai on Friday night was held, chatting to another 4×4 group.

We left on Saturday morning around 9:30 am on the 4×4 route. From an early start, some got stuck in the sand and Louis had to be recovered a few times. We also had to recover Hilton’s cut tyre, which was difficult to replace in the sand and heat. A potjielid was also lost en route. We were back at camp at about 1:30 pm with the rest of the day spent in and around the pool, trying not to be stung by bees. Another pleasant braai at the lapa followed.

Sunday morning packing was a breeze in the overcast weather before we departed.
